Kung-fu Class FAQ

What ages do you teach?

Ages 5+ to Adults. Kids, teens and adults train together on Sundays, and parent-and-child training is welcome.

What style of Kung-fu do you teach?

Shuai Jiao is traditional Chinese wrestling, using balance, leverage and throws instead of strikes. Students learn to fall safely first, then practice throws on mats with a partner. We also teach Tai Chi, a slower, flowing practice for balance and calm.

Is it safe for my child?

Students learn to tumble, fall safely, and protect their head and neck before they learn to throw. Throws are practiced on professional-grade, impact-absorbing mats with partners, under the supervision of experienced instructors.

What does it cost?

$200 per quarter plus a $75 yearly membership. Your first class is free.

Can I stay and watch?

What people are saying

The instructors are knowledgeable, patient, and really know how to teach the art step by step. I am really happy to had the opportunity to take some sesssions with the legendary grandmaster and Dr. Daniel Weng and his son Jan Yu Weng. The classes are well organized and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. It's a great place whether you're a beginner or have some experience. I Highly and definitely recommend if you're looking to train real traditional Chinese wrestling in the Bay Area.

A community club that teaches shuai jiao to kids and adults, emphasizing learning, encouragement and support. My 3 kids and I started a year ago when the youngest turned 5. They like playing on the playground after class. I like learning something new with them.

My children have been learning Kung Fu... at Cupertino Kung Fu Club for many years, and it has been an incredibly positive experience. The environment is safe, welcoming, and supportive.

Our kid loves this program! Excellent teachers. Hidden gem in Cupertino and affordable too! Highly recommend- and may join myself when my younger one is old enough :)

There has always been a positive environment here. I practiced mostly shuai chiao and tai chi. Shuai Chiao is very similar to Judo with many throws, joint manipulation, but with no grappling on the ground. The vigorous foot work drills and forms really helped improve my balance, leg strength, coordination and my throwing. This helped my skills in Judo greatly.

The Cupertino Kung-Fu club provides a comfortable atmosphere to learn Kung-Fu that isn't too strict, but also isn't too casual, an important balance to teach self-discipline in our modern world... Consider checking out the Cupertino Kung-Fu club if you want to, or you want your child to, practice some self discipline while improving your balance and learning to protect your head when you fall.

Great traditional kung fu school in Cupertino, teaching Shuai Jiao, and Chang style Tai Chi and Xing Jing. Kids and adult classes, highly skilled, knowledgeable, and helpful instructors, friendly welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!
